Does this work with saltwater pools?
Yes. AquaDoc Chitosan Clarifier works with saltwater, chlorine, and bromine systems. The chitosan formula does not interfere with your salt cell or sanitizer.
How often should I use it?
For routine maintenance, add the recommended dose weekly with your pump running. For cloudy water cleanup, dose as directed and run your filter continuously until water clears, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
Will it work with my filter type?
Yes. It works with sand, cartridge, and DE filters. Because it binds particles into larger clumps, you may notice your filter catches more debris than usual after dosing. Backwash or rinse the cartridge as needed.
How long does it take to see results?
Most users see noticeable improvement within 24 hours of dosing. Heavier cloudiness or high bather load situations may take 48 hours and a follow-up dose.
Is it safe for hot tubs and spas?
Yes. The 16 oz size is well-suited for spa and hot tub use. Use the spa dosing guidance on the label, since spas hold far less water than pools.
What does chitosan actually do?
Chitosan is a biopolymer derived from shellfish shells. It carries a positive charge that attracts negatively charged particles in water, including fine debris, oils, and some metals. Once those particles bind to the chitosan, they form clumps large enough for your filter to capture.
Can I use this alongside other AquaDoc products?
Yes. It works alongside sanitizer, shock, algaecide, phosphate remover, and balancing chemicals. Add chemicals one at a time, spaced out, with the pump running.
