Is Your Pool or Hot Tub Drying Out Your Skin?

Hey there!

If your pool or hot tub is leaving your skin dry, tight, or itchy, don’t blame the water itself. It’s likely a sign that something’s off in your water chemistry.

🛁 WHAT'S CAUSING MY DRY SKIN?
If your skin feels dry after a swim or soak, it’s usually one or a mix of these culprits:

  • Overloaded Sanitizer: Too much chlorine or bromine can strip moisture from your skin

  • pH Imbalance: Water that is too acidic or too alkaline can mess with your skin’s natural barrier

  • Low Calcium Hardness: Soft water feels great but can leech moisture from your skin over time

🚿 QUICK FIXES FOR AVOIDING DRY WATER

✅ Check sanitizer levels. If they are high, let your tub breathe by leaving the cover off for a bit
✅ Balance your pH. Keep it between 7.4 and 7.6 to prevent irritation
✅ Test calcium hardness. If it is below 150 ppm, it is time to add some

💦 Hot Tub & Pool Check (Because Water Balance Matters Everywhere)
Whether you are soaking in your spa or gearing up for pool season, water balance affects how your skin feels

🔹 Hot Tub Owners: Dry, itchy skin? Time for a quick chemistry check. Your tub should hydrate, not dehydrate
🔹 Pool Owners: Hard water buildup? If your pool water is drying out your skin, calcium hardness might be too high
