How to Take Care of Your Eagle Ray Digital Water Testing Kit

Proper care ensures accurate readings and helps extend the life of your Eagle Ray device.
1. Clean the Reference Sensor Pad
Clean the white reference pad every 20 to 30 tests, when you get a "Light Error," see inconsistent results, or notice dust or moisture buildup. Use a soft, lint-free paper towel dampened with distilled, purified, mineral, or high-quality filtered water. Do not use pool or spa water. After cleaning, gently blot the pad dry using a clean part of the towel. Avoid scrubbing or applying too much pressure, as this can damage the sensor.
2. Use the Correct Strips and Handle Them Properly
Always use AquaDoc test strips. The Eagle Ray is calibrated specifically for them.
Dip the strip into your water sample for exactly 2 seconds, then gently shake off any excess water before inserting it.
Make sure the color pads are facing up, and handle strips with clean, dry hands.
3. Keep the Device on a Flat Surface
Always use and store your Eagle Ray on a flat, level surface. Tilting the unit can allow water to reach the light sensor, which may cause a "Light Error" or permanent damage.
4. Do Not Force the Tray
Use the arrow buttons to extend or retract the strip tray. Do not push or pull it by hand.
Ensure the tray is fully closed before starting a test.
5. Battery and USB Power Notes
The Eagle Ray operates on three AA batteries. When the "Low Battery" warning appears, replace all three batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries. The USB port can power the device while plugged in, but it does not charge the unit and is not ideal for poolside use.

Minor differences between test results are normal. Lighting conditions, test strip age, and slight variations in water samples can all contribute. For the most consistent results, test two or three times and take the average.
7. Common Errors and How to Fix Them
Light Error: The sensor pad may be dirty or the device was tilted. Clean the pad and place the device flat.
Tray/Table Error: The tray may not be fully seated. Reseat it gently and press the up arrow button.
Strip Error: The strip may be inserted incorrectly or mishandled. Use AquaDoc strips and make sure pads are facing up.
8. Resetting Your Device
If needed, perform a factory reset using the built-in password: 0431. This will restore the device to default settings, turn sound alerts back on, reset timers, and clear test history.
