Will my pool pump and filter both fit on this?
For most residential setups, yes. A 36x36 footprint handles a standard pump-and-filter combo with room for the multiport valve. If you're adding a salt cell or heater in line, measure your full equipment layout first or step up to a 36x48.
Plastic vs concrete: which one do I actually need?
Plastic (EcoPad) is cheaper, lighter, ships easy, and works for the majority of residential pool gear. Concrete (CladLite) gives you better vibration dampening, more weight stability, and a real concrete look. If your code requires a thicker or heavier pad, you need concrete. Otherwise, plastic is fine.
Will it crack in freeze-thaw climates?
No. Polypropylene doesn't absorb water, so there's nothing to freeze and split. It holds up the same in Minnesota winters as it does in Phoenix summers.
Does it fade in the sun?
The plastic is UV inhibited, which slows down the chalky, brittle breakdown you'd see on untreated plastic. It'll hold its structure and color for years outdoors.
Can I put a gas pool heater on this?
No. Plastic pads are not rated for direct-flame equipment. Use a concrete pad or a fire-rated base under gas heaters.
Electric heater or heat pump?
Heat pumps are fine on this pad. Electric heaters like the Raypak E3T are also fine since there's no combustion. Keep in mind heat pumps vibrate more than electric heaters, so some installers prefer concrete under heat pumps for vibration reasons, though plastic works.
How do I install it?
Level your ground first with compacted gravel or sand. Drop the pad. Set your equipment on top. Plumb in. That's it. No anchoring needed for residential pool gear.
