Buy these things for your Pool Cover

Your pool cover does a lot of heavy lifting. It keeps your pool clean, reduces maintenance, and protects your water when you’re not swimming. But what about the tools and accessories that help your pool cover do its job even better? Whether you’re prepping for winter or just want to get the most out of your setup, here are a few must-haves that can make a big difference.

1. Pool Cover Pumps

Standing water on a pool cover can be a nightmare. Not only does it weigh down the cover, but it can also lead to mold, mildew, and even tears. A good pool cover pump solves that problem. It removes water quickly, so you don’t have to stand there with a bucket. My friend once tried bailing out water by hand after a storm, and let’s just say it wasn’t fun.

If you’re investing in a pump, look for one that’s easy to use and powerful enough to handle heavy rain. You’ll thank yourself later when you don’t have to deal with a waterlogged cover.

2. Cover Clips and Straps

If you’ve ever had a windy day blow your pool cover halfway across the yard, you know how frustrating it can be. Cover clips or straps are a simple but essential solution. They keep your cover secure, even when the weather isn’t cooperating.

I started using clips last year after my cover nearly flew off during a windy afternoon. Since then, I haven’t had a single issue, even when the wind really picks up. It’s such a small investment for so much peace of mind.

3. Pool Cover Reels

If you’ve got a large pool, taking the pool cover on and off can feel like a full-body workout. Pool cover reels make the process so much easier. You just roll it up, and you’re done. Plus, using a reel helps prevent damage to the cover, so it lasts longer.

My neighbor swears by hers. She told me it used to take her 20 minutes to wrestle with the cover, but now it’s a quick, two-minute job. That’s time better spent swimming, not struggling.

4. Winter Pool Cover Weights

If you’re getting ready for the colder months, pool cover weights are a must. They keep your cover secure and help prevent debris from sneaking into your pool. Sandbags or water tubes work great for this, and they’re pretty inexpensive.

Last winter, I skipped using weights, and I spent hours cleaning leaves out of my pool come spring. Lesson learned. A few weights could’ve saved me a ton of time and frustration.

5. Pool Cover Cleaner

Your pool cover is an investment, and taking care of it will make it last longer. A good pool cover cleaner removes dirt, grime, and algae, keeping your cover in top shape. Use it regularly, and you’ll notice the difference. Plus, it’s way easier than trying to scrub a cover that’s been neglected for months.

I like to give my cover a quick cleaning before putting it away for the season. It keeps it looking new and ready to go for next year.
